Meme - Five Faves 2

Here we go again, my five faves for the week...wooooooo!

1. These winter water bottles, very cute, very cuddly and verrrrrry excited to receive mine in the mail soon.
2. Getting a visit from my sister and her partner.  Spending the weekend shopping, having cocktails at Cactus Jacks and catching up. Definitely my favourite for the week. Also, the easter loot that mum sent up with them.
3. The wonderful world of wrist worms.
4. The lovely website Upon a Fold.  Their handmade flowers are beautiful. I am going to try and make some. I really am.
5. She & Him. I love Miss Deschanel and her work, movies, songs etc. Their new cd is fabulous. But I still can't get this song out of my head. I love this new video clip they did for 500 Days of Summer.

What are your 5 faves? or make it 6 to keep it even x

Hot Totties

I am excited for it to get cold.  I love the cold weather.
I love the freshness to the air when you first open your door in the mornings.
Drinking coffee and tea at all times during the day and night.
Being able to crochet and sew to keep warm.
The nip in the air.
Wearing cardies.
Eating soup.
Dragging rugs out of the cupboard.
Wearing dresses and tights.
Eating porridge in the mornings.
Wearing my Peter Alexander night robe, and....snuggling up to these Peter Alexander winter water bottles. I just purchased the babushka one.
looooooove them. x

Peppermint Please

I love magazines. Mostly Frankie & Peppermint.
Peppermint is uber cool, as an eco friendly fashion and craft mag I heart it very much.
It doesn't come out that often though, boo. However, when it does...It is definitely worth the long wait.

Check it out -----> You will love it too x

Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String

I have three little nephews, who will be waiting patiently for the Easter Bunny to hop by their house.  I have to get in early with their gifts for postage, so I bought them some treats and wrapped them up using brown paper, some easter stamps, decorative tape and string.

The wrapping looks pretty cute.  Just like they are. They are Very Cute, but mischevious x

Softies Who Smile

I like to sew. I love to piece something together to get a fabulous end result, sometimes, more than likely looking better than you first expected.

Softies are fun.  I like deciding which materials to use, embroidering on their little faces and smiles, giving them personalities and them wrapping them up as gifts.

These softies which I made from the Meet Me At Mikes crafty book, have come in really handy for eensy weensy baby gifts.  However, these softies were actually given to my friends, who like to prop them up on their beds.  Bird wore hers out so much it lost its eyebrows and eyelashes - and she needs a little more stuffing.

Anyhoo, here are the lovely softies - which I can't bare to give away anymore. x

Meme - Five Faves

So, Pip over at Meet Me at Mikes (my favourite blogger), has a new meme, where you post your 5 faves for the week.  The things you love, enjoy or just think are pretty cool for the week.

I see a lot of things that I love during the week, sometimes twenty things in one day.  But a few stand out from the rest.

1. This blog.  My sister showed this lovely blog to me a while ago, and every now and then I stop in. It made me cry, in a good way though. Vey beautiful.
2. My fabulous new typewriter. I've been typing up letters all week, stamping them and then tieing them up with some string.
3. Lola & Bailey, Wow! This website has definitely been my favourite for the week. I would really, really love a tote with my initial. It would look uber cute as I tote around my library books, crafting supplies and groceries.
4. I love stationery, I really do. This website is my favourite every week. Go look, you won't leave empty handed.
5. Angus & Julia - their new album has been my favourite thing to listen to every day, all day and all night, as I drive to the shops, and as I get ready in the mornings, permanent playlisting going on here. Black Crow & Big Jet Plane are amazing songs, while listening you drift off to a place of enchantment. Maybe I just love Angus though.

There are my faves for the week - I do have plenty more, I really do. x

I Heart Type

Typewriters. My new favourite thing. I had been bidding like a crazy on ebay, and hoping to bag one of these little gems.  Meanwhile, Shark and Popcorn had already hunted one down for me for my birthday. They are just the best!

It is just fabulous. I like it very much.  Typing up little love letters, notes and poems just seems to be more fun now that I can type away on my little vintage typewriter. I like to imagine other owners and what they have typed, maybe secrets even.  x

Quilting crazy

So I made a quilt. I used old scraps of fat quarters and stitched them all together to get this fabulous new bedspread.  My very crafty quilter of a mother stitched all the wadding in to give it a nice thickness for those cooler months brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I love the border.  I have made little dresses with this pattern, it reminds me of summer.  And this quilt brings lots of summer cheer and brightness to my little dull uni room.  x

Eggcellent at Easter

It is that time again, when the Easter bunny has hopped right into our paths again with his brightly coloured foil wrapped easter eggs. I like Easter. I like the bonnets, the easter hunts and the fact that it's ok to eat chocolate for breakfast.

I also like to give Easter gifts, but sometimes eggs can be expensive and boring. So why not make them yourself and package them in too cute jars that can be used again for other bits and bobs once the bunny has hopped off.

To package up your home made eggs, you can reuse old glass jars from jams and spreads that have been washed out and ready for use again. Stack the different shaped eggs inside the jar and decorate the container.

I used MT Masking tape purchased from Notemaker to decorate the top of my jar with an eclectic mix of colours and patterns. I then used a wooden rabbit stamp on some brown Kraft cardboard and made a gift tag which was secured with brown jute string in a bow around the jar.

The end result was a home made crafty gift that can be given to all ages. Cost effective and not time consuming this little package will delight all Easter lovers no matter how young or old. x

Birthday Bonanza

I like birthdays.  You get to eat cake, be silly and use excessive amounts of ribbon!
It's my birthday this weekend, and no exceptions will be made on the being silly and eating cake front.
I like my friend's birthdays best though, because you get to give presents! And this year I made a couple of presents and bits and bobs for my wonderful friend's birthdays.

My beautiful friend turned the big 21, and to celebrate the festiveness I made some loot bags! Using brown paper bags and some MT Washi sticky tape the loot bags wrapped up marvellous lollies from A Spoonful of Sugar.  And of course, Bird, Bike and myself didn't mind going to a Spoonful of Sugar to load up on the loot! Twizzlers, Peanut Butter Cups and Clouds were definitely being purchased.

Birthday cakes smothered with white Betty Crocker icing and smarties are my favourite to make, and canvas pillows with eccentric patterns and designs are a creative way to make your friends personality shine through furnishings!

Our friend's birthdays are always such a grand affair, making cakes, buying flowers and buying "joke" presents.  I like joke presents best.  Lava lamp keyrings, lawn mower figurines and maracas seem to make birthdays that little more special, and full of sillyness x

Carry on Luggage

My everyday bag is quite large.  It has everything from cameras to toothbrushes crammed into it, and loose change casually clinks together as I swing it over my shoulder.  Every now and then I do the regular clean out of old receipts, bobby pins and change, however, I always have the same things in it for "just in case" situations.

What do you carry with you everywhere? Bird likes to have her Leatherman on her, she takes it everywhere in its little case.  I'm waiting for her to clip it onto her belt.

I like to not go anywhere without my - moleskine notebook, tea bags (chai & english breakfast) and a good pen. You never know when you're going to have to sit down with a cup of tea and write something after all! x

I Love Birds & Bikes

Pass the Popcorn Please

My friend you see, has quite a sickening obsession with movie popcorn. To the point where she will drive her beaten up ol' blue bird of a box to the movies to grab a box of that buttered up delight.

Movies are something we all take part in quite frequently... It's date night after all, and growing up, Bird and I used to rent Dirty Dancing and Footloose out every weekend. We would saddle up on a mattress, squeeze out some fresh cookie dough and take in all the sights of Kevin Bacon's fine looking behind in high waisted wranglers. Every weekend.

So this weekend, we have decided to go back to childhood, and have a good ol' fashioned movie night, with popcorn, doonas, friends and of course Kevin Bacon...maybe with an exception of a few spiked beverages.

What are your favourite movies to watch on date night, girls night or just those days when its bleak outside and nothing would seem better than to escape into a small lakeside vacation spot, and have a steamy fling with a dance instructor... to have the the time of your life.
I would have to say...

1. Pride & Prejudice
2. Almost Famous
3. You've got Mail
4. Milo & Otis
5. Breakfast Club
6. Sixteen Candles
7. Rock n Roll Highschool
8. Reality Bites
9. Footloose
10. Jaws

Type & Write

My obsession with Typewriters has exceeded well and truly past a small "liking" into "I've got to have one of these now". Scouring second hand shops, bidding like a crazy on Ebay and trying to track down one of these is taking up most of my time these days... With no luck on the bidding front, I think I will have to settle for this amazing cross stitch piece from Moxiedoll x
